I'm Jason, Male therapist based in Dublin, offering online counselling across Ireland & UK plus in-person sessions in Dublin city centre. Specialising in men's mental health, burnout, LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy and more.
I don't work off one script — I adjust to what's actually useful for you, not what a manual says should be useful. I work fully online across Ireland and the UK, and in person on Capel Street, Dublin City Centre. In person availability on Friday and also Saturday. I would also describe myself as direct but compassionate, and therapy is also occasionally funny, because that's how real conversations work.
Why I do this
I kept ending up in the same room
For a long time I had two lives running side by side. In one I worked in corporate envoirnments, where burnout was treated as a scheduling problem. In the other I was in community venues around Dublin doing rapid HIV testing, and on a helpline taking calls from LGBTQIA+ people who were in crisis — or sometimes just lonely at half eleven on a Tuesday.
The second one kept feeling more real than the first. What I noticed, over and over, was how rarely people get a space where the actual thing can be said out loud — and how much shifts once it can. Eventually it stopped making sense not to train for it.
So: not a calling, exactly. More that I kept ending up in the same room, and decided to get properly qualified to be in it.
Background
My background isn't just academic. For nearly a decade I volunteered in peer-led HIV testing — delivering on-location rapid tests in community venues across Dublin, sitting with people in the moment a result comes back. For a similar stretch I took calls on a helpline for LGBTQIA+ people in distress — sometimes in crisis, sometimes just needing somewhere to land.
That work taught me things no module covers: how people carry stigma quietly, how identity and health can collide in ways that are hard to name, how much it matters that the person across from you already understands the landscape.
I also spent close to two decades in corporate environments — legal background, high-pressure teams, the kind of culture where burnout is treated as a scheduling problem. I know what it looks like to keep performing when something is quietly breaking.
My clinical placement was in a queer-affirming therapeutic setting working specifically with individuals navigating an HIV diagnosis — environments where boundaries are often contested and where shame and resilience sit side by side. I've also completed a diploma in group work, which informs how I understand relational dynamics and the way people show up differently in different rooms.
I bring all of that in with me. Not as credentials to display, but as context that means I'm not asking you to explain your world from scratch. That lived experience is what I bring to online therapy sessions with clients across Ireland and the UK.
As a Pre-Accredited qualified therapist and a Member of the IACP, I meet all professional and ethical standards — the distinction from full accreditation relates mostly to client hours accrual and health insurance reimbursement. Please check with your provider before booking if reimbursement is important to you.
If any of this resonates, I'd love to hear from you.
